Dye & Medicinal Plant Walk (w/ Planting Radiance)

Join Zhyfhs of Planting Radiance and Anita Cazzola (Guelph's Artist in Residence) as they share knowledge, insights, and reflections on wild plants in curious spaces around Guelph. The plants they will focus on can be used as a dye plant and as medicine. These plant walks will be held virtually, but signage will be placed along their route through the site so that you can go explore the plants in person afterwards.

Zhyfhs is a herbalist & professional member of the Ontario Herbalists Association who loves sharing information about local medicinal plants. She is a 4th year student of Dominion Herbal College studying clinical herbal medicine, and with the combined knowledge of herbal medicine and the human body, one of her goals is to empower people with information about opportunities for improving their health and well-being. Through her business 'Planting Radiance' Zhyfhs offers medicinal plant walks, workshops, and emails as avenues for enthusiastically conveying information and encouraging folks to connect with nature.

Anita Cazzola is a textile and installation artist from Guelph, ON. Anita's work inhabits the intersections between textiles, geology, geography, and the built human environment. Exploring the material and metaphorical complexities of cloth and geological forms, Anita reconsiders the destructive assumptions of decay and disintegration as means of resistance, reclamation and healing. She is currently the Artist in Residence for the City of Guelph, working on a project titled Botanical Reclamation. This project celebrates the resilience of wild plants through naturally dyed textiles.
